Hey there, long time no chat! It’s been a wild three weeks, let me tell ya. Buckle up, 'cause I'm about to cram it all into one bite-sized update. Ready? Let's go!
First up, I ferried up to St. Kitts for my cousin’s 70th birthday extravaganza. Talk about a party! She was decked out like royalty in a green sequined gown and a gold crown—total queen vibes. We, her loyal subjects, dressed to the nines in black and gold, toasted, danced, recited poetry—the whole nine yards. And yup, I even took the stage to wax nostalgic about our childhood shenanigans. No, I’m not 70 yet, but when I hit that milestone, you bet I’m gonna rock it just like she did. It's in the genes, baby!
Seems like the nostalgia bug was going around, because another childhood pal made a grand return after 40+ years away, just like yours truly. We caught up at the Nevis Art Gallery in Charlestown to support her friend, an up-and-coming painter, along with other local artists. Then later in the week, she threw a brunch bash, and let me tell you, her menu was like stepping back in time to the good ol’ days. Ah, memories!
And speaking of capturing memories, I played assistant to my daughter during three killer portrait sessions. Seriously, she’s a wizard behind the lens, capturing souls and personalities like nobody’s business. George Eliot was onto something when she said, “It is never too late to be what you might have been.” Not that my daughter’s ancient or anything, but you catch my drift.
Switching gears to something more lighthearted, my daughter and I had a blast taking my great niece to the Agricultural and Food Festival at the park. Despite the rain, we made the most of it, hopping from the petting zoos to horseback riding, busting some moves to the music, and indulging in some mouthwatering food tastings. But the real treat was when a small junior group of Masqueraders showed up. While they may not have boasted the same level of skill and lavish attire as their predecessors from years gone by, watching them triggered a flood of childhood memories of lively Christmas serenades, from yard to yard, around the island. Man, it feels good to be back home again.
Check out this video I captured just for you. Witness the next generation of tiny tots in action. And, no, neither of those little girls is my great niece. She’s more of a spectator, just like her Auntie Ana.
Amidst all the fun, I managed to squeeze in some editing—three chapters down! Plus, I even whipped up two fresh chapters for my work-in-progress. Busy bee, right here.
Well, that’s a wrap for now. Fingers crossed, next time I chat with you, I hope to have a pre-order date for Consumed by Desire. Can’t wait to get my youngest baby in your hands.
In the meantime, come ‘FOLLOW’ me on Ana E Ross Plus over at Ream for some exclusive behind-the-scenes content of the gripping, sensuous stories brewing in the cave. To kick things off, here's a juicy excerpt from Chapter 1 of Consumed by Desire. Just remember, it's still a work-in-progress! Check it out at: https://reamstories.com/anaeross
