Hey there, fellow wordsmiths and adventure seekers!
Let me paint you a picture of my roller-coaster ride through the ups and downs of the writing life. Strap yourselves in because this week's journey has been a wild one!
After a marathon meeting with my co-conspirator on Saturday, where ideas sparked like fireworks, I emerged buzzing with optimism. And so I dove headfirst into Sunday with a fiery determination to conquer my to-do list and propel my work-in-progress (WIP) Consumed by Desire closer to the finish line. Armed with Asana and a steaming cup of ambition, I tackled tasks left and right, preparing and scheduling content on REAM, updating Patreon, rearranging my desk and office space, and clearing the decks for a week of uninterrupted writing bliss.
I was so hyped, I could practically see myself churning out two whole chapters in a single day. But alas, reality had other plans. Monday rolled around, and despite my best intentions, I barely managed to eke out a single paragraph. Yet, as any writer worth their salt knows, progress, no matter how small, is still progress. So, I'm claiming that paragraph with pride, folks!
Of course, no writing week would be complete without the inevitable dance with distractions. Enter my awesome nephew, his lovely new wife, and their adorable bundle of joy. Cue the collective "awws" and melted hearts as I basked in the cuteness overload. On the flip side, there's nothing quite as frustrating as battling with ancient technology, as demonstrated by our trusty old modem deciding to throw in the towel every time a raindrop falls. Thanks for nothing, modem.
But hey, such is the life of an indie author, right? Juggling writing with a myriad of other responsibilities, from marketing and advertising to newsletters and unforeseen tech woes, is all part of the gig. And while my characters may be tapping their feet impatiently, waiting for their stories to be told, I refuse to throw in the towel.
In the midst of life's chaos and clamor, it's essential to carve out moments of tranquility wherever we can find them. For me, this week, that beacon of calm came in the form of the soothing sound of the ocean waves.
As I sat in my humble abode, enveloped by the hustle and bustle of daily life, I found myself drawn to the not too-distant melody of the sea. There's something inherently comforting about the rhythmic ebb and flow of the tide, a timeless symphony that speaks to the very core of our being.
So, armed with nothing but a sense of curiosity and a desire for connection, I ventured down to the bay front, even as gray clouds envelop the world around me. And what awaited me there was nothing short of magical.
With each step, the sound of the waves grew louder, beckoning me closer like a siren's song. And as I reached the water's edge, I beheld a breathtaking sight. Despite the pitch darkness and the gentle drizzle, the ocean's vast expanse stretched before me, reaching out into infinity
In that moment, as I stood there cloaked in the darkness of the night, I felt a profound sense of peace wash over me. It was as if the worries and cares of the world melted away, replaced by a deep connection to nature and my own inner landscape.
I couldn’t resist capturing this moment of pure serenity, so I pulled out my phone and captured a short video to share with you all. It may only be a fleeting glimpse into the beauty of the ocean, but it’s a brief respite from the chaos of the world, a reminder that even in the darkest of nights, there is always light to be found. I hope it brings you a fraction of the joy and tranquility it brought me.
Here’s to hoping that the coming week brings smoother sailing and more writing time than I’ve seen in ages. I’m dusting myself off, getting back on the horse, and diving headfirst into the fray once more. Wish me luck, fellow adventurers, for the journey ahead promises to be anything but dull.
Until next time, may you find solace in the simple pleasures and moments of beauty that surround us each and every day. How’s your vibe?
